On this page, you will find a free crochet doll pattern.

This design was inspired by the elves of Lord of the Ring universe.

Yarn.

DK weight cotton yarn in 5 colors (I used Rico Design "Ricorumi DK").

  • beige for the body (061 in Ricorumi DK, 2 skeins);
  • light brown for hair (053, 1 skein);
  • green for the dress (048, 1 skein);
  • brown for decoration (057);
  • white for decoration (002).

Of course, you can choose any other colors you like. The list of colors is just an example.

Other materials.

  • crochet hook 2,5 mm;
  • stuffing;
  • safety eyes 7 mm;
  • yarn needle;
  • scissors.


Size

The size of the toy is approx. 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm) tall if made with indicated materials. The size may vary if you choose another weight of yarn and crochet hook number.



Abbreviations

The pattern is written in English, using US terminology.

ch - chain
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
inc - increase
dec - (invisible) decrease
dc - double crochet



Difficulty

Skill level: easy*

You should know how to crochet: chains, slip stitches, single crochet stitches, increases, and decreases, double crochet stitches, how to crochet in rounds.

HEAD/BODY

We start to crochet at the top of the head.

Crochet with beige yarn.

RND 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from a hook /pic.1-2/ [6]
RND 2: inc in next 6 st [12] /pic.3/


RND 3: (sc in next st, inc in next st) * 6 times [18] /pic.4/
RND 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) * 6 times [24]
RND 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) * 6 times [30]
RND 6: (sc in next 4 st, inc in next st) * 6 times [36]
RND 7: (sc in next 5 st, inc in next st) * 6 times [42]
RND 8: (sc in next 6 st, inc in next st) * 6 times [48] /pic.5/
RND 9-18: sc in next 48 st [48] - 10 rounds /pic.6/



RND 19: (sc in next 6 st, dec) * 6 times [42]
RND 20: (sc in next 5 st, dec) * 6 times [36] /pic.7/

If you use the safety eyes put them now between rounds 14 and 15. The right eye between stitches 33 and 34 of this rounds, and the left eye between stitches 38 and 39. /pic.8-9/


RND 21: (sc in next 4 st, dec) * 6 times [30]
RND 22: (sc in next 3 st, dec) * 6 times [24]

Start to stuff the head. /pic.10/


RND 23: (sc in next 2 st, dec) * 6 times [18]

RND 25: (inc in next st, sc in next 8 st) * 2 times [20]

Stuff the head to the end. /pic.11/



RND 27: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st, sc in next 8 st) * 2 times [24]
RND 28: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st, sc in next 8 st) * 2 times [26]
RND 29: (sc in next 4 st, inc in next st, sc in next 8 st) * 2 times [28]
RND 30: (sc in next 5 st, inc in next st, sc in next 8 st) * 2 times [30]
RND 31: (sc in next 6 st, inc in next st, sc in next 8 st) * 2 times [32]
RND 32: (sc in next 7 st, inc in next st, sc in next 8 st) * 2 times [34]

In the last, 39th, round make that number of stitches, that you need to stop this round in the middle of the eyes. In my case, it is also 36 stitches, in your case, it could be 34 or 35 or 36 or 37 or 38 stitches.  /pic.14/


Don't fasten off, continue working with a pattern for the leg 1.


LEG 1


RND 1: sc in next 18 st /pic.15-16/, skip next 18 st [18]
RND 2: start crochet in the first stitch of the previous round /pic.17/, sc in next 18 st [18]  /pic.18/


RND 3: (dec, sc in next 7 st) * 2 times [16]
RND 4: sc in next 16 st [16]
RND 5: (dec, sc in next 6 st) * 2 times [14]
RND 6: sc in next 14 st [14]
RND 7: (dec, sc in next 5 st) * 2 times [12]
RND 8: sc in next 12 st [12]
RND 9: (dec, sc in next 4 st) * 2 times [10]
RND 10: sc in next 10 st [10] /pic.19/

Stuff the body and start to stuff leg 1. /pic.20/


RND 11: (dec, sc in next 3 st) * 2 times [8]

RND 12: inc in next 4 st /pic.21/, sc in next 4 st [12] /pic.22/
RND 13: sc in next 8 st, dec 2 times [10] /pic.23/


RND 14: dec, sc in next 4 st, dec, sc in next 2 st [8] /pic.24/

Stuff the leg 1 to the end. /pic.25/

RND 15: dec 4 times [4]

Fasten off and leave a tail approx. 15 cm /pic.26/. 


With a sewing needle, insert the end of the yarn through front loops /pic.27/ of all stitches of the last round /pic.28-29/
Pull all together at once /pic.30-31/


Insert the needle into the leg and pull it out as shown on the pic.32. Pull tightly. Then insert the needle nearby and pull it out as shown on the pic.33-34


Pull tightly again. Weave in the yarn ends. /pic.35-37/



LEG 2

Start crochet in the first skipped stitch in RND 1 of the LEG 1 /pic.38/



RND 1: sc in next 18 st [18] /pic.39-40/
RND 2: start crochet in the first stitch of the previous round, sc in next 18 st [18]
RND 3: (dec, sc in next 7 st) * 2 times [16]
RND 4: sc in next 16 st [16]
RND 5: (dec, sc in next 6 st) * 2 times [14]
RND 6: sc in next 14 st [14]
RND 7: (dec, sc in next 5 st) * 2 times [12]
RND 8: sc in next 12 st [12]
RND 9: (dec, sc in next 4 st) * 2 times [10]
RND 10: sc in next 10 st [10]

Start to stuff the leg 2 /pic.41/


RND 11: (dec, sc in next 3 st) * 2 times [8]
RND 12: sc in next 4 st, inc in next 4 st [12] /pic.42/
RND 13: dec 2 times, sc in next 8 st [10] /pic.43/
RND 14: sc in next 2 st, dec, sc in next 4 st, dec [8]

Stuff the leg 2 to the end /pic.44/


RND 15: dec 4 times [4]

Fasten off the same way as in the leg 1. /pic.45/

With an additional cut of yarn and needle sew up a hole between the legs. /pic.46/



ARMS

Make 2.

Crochet with beige yarn.

RND 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from a hook [6]
RND 2: (inc in next st, sc in next 2 st) * 2 times [8]
RND 3-13: sc in next 8 st [6] - 11 rounds

The arms do not need to be stuffed.

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing. /pic.48/

Sew the arms. /pic.49/




HAIR

Crochet with orange yarn.

RND 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from a hook [6]
RND 2: inc in next 6 st [12]
RND 3:(sc in next st, inc in next st) * 6 times [18]
RND 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) * 6 times [24]
RND 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) * 6 times [30]
RND 6: (sc in next 4 st, inc in next st) * 6 times [36]
RND 7: (sc in next 5 st, inc in next st) * 6 times [42]
RND 8: (sc in next 6 st, inc in next st) * 6 times [48] /pic.50/
RND 9-15: sc in next 48 st [48] - 7 rounds  /pic.51/


Don't fasten off.

Now you need to crochet the hair. Make the stripes follow the next pattern:

STRIPE 1: Ch 21 /pic.52/, starting in the second ch from a hook /pic.53/, crochet 20 sl st by the chains /pic.54-55/, 1 sl st in next st of the main detail /pic.55-56/


STRIPE 2-30: repeat the pattern for stripe 1 /pic.57-59/


At all, you need to crochet 30 stripes. 

Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.


Put the hair detail on the head as shown on the pic.60-64
Then sew the hair to the head. /pic.65/


Now embroider the bang with a yarn needle and an additional cut of the yarn. /pic.66-71/



DRESS

Crochet with green yarn.

At first, make a bottom detail (a skirt).

RND 1: Ch 36 [36] /pic.72/


RND 2: start crochet in the first chain of the previous round /pic.73/, sc in next 36 ch [36] /pic.74-75/



RND 3: 1 ch /pic.76/, 2 dc in each of the next 36 st /pic.77-81/, 1 sl st in the chain that we crochet in the beginning of this round /pic.82-83/ [72]



RND 4: 2 ch /pic.84/, 2 dc in each of the next 72 st /pic.85-87/, 1 sl st in the second chain that we crochet at the beginning of this round [144] /pic.88-89/


RND 5-6: 2 ch /pic.90/, 1 dc in next 144 st, 1 sl st in the second chain that we crochet at the beginning of this round [144] - 2 rounds /pic.91-92/


Fasten off and weave in the yarn ends.

Now make the top detail of the dress.

Attach the yarn to the ch of rnd 1 of the skirt. /pic.93-94/


Make 2 chains. /pic.95/



RND 1: (dc in next 4 ch, dec) * repeat 6 times [30] /pic.96-98/
RND 2: Ch 2 /pic.99/, turn the detail /pic.100/, (dc in next 3 st, dec) * repeat 6 times [24] /pic.101-102/
RND 3: Ch 2 /pic.103/, turn the detail /pic.104/, dc in next 4 st /pic.105/, 4 chains /pic.106/, skip next 4 st /pic.107/, dc in next 8 st, 4 chains, skip next 4 st, dc in next 4 st [24] /pic.108/


RND 4: Ch 1 /pic.109/, turn the detail /pic.110/, sc in next 24 st [24] /pic.111-113/

Fasten off and weave in the yarn ends. /pic.114/



With an additional cut of yarn, crochet sl stitches into the stitches of the dress' neckline. /pic.115/

Weave in the yarn ends. /pic.116/



Now make accessories for the dress.

Decorate the neckline with brown yarn. /pic.117-121/

Make a belt. Crochet 70 chains, starting in the second ch from a hook, crochet 69 sl st by the chains. 

Fasten off and weave in the yarn ends. /pic.122-123/



FLOWERS

Crochet flowers in white, brown, and green colors.

Make so many flowers as you want ; )

Ch 2 /pic.124/, 4 sc in second ch from the hook, so we have four stitches. /pic.125/ 


Crochet follow the next pattern:

1 dc in first st /pic.126-127/, 1 ch /pic.128/, sl st in the same st /pic.129/




1 dc in second st /pic.130/, 1 ch /pic.131/, sl st in the same st /pic.132/


1 dc in third st, 1 ch, sl st in the same st /pic.133/

1 dc in fourth st, 1 ch, sl st in the same st /pic.134/


Fasten off, leave a long tail of yarn. /pic.135/


Now with this tail of yarn highlight the petals as shown on the pic.136-141.


Put the flowers on the hair.

  4. In the 2nd round of making the dress, i think i noticed a mistake and instead of "2dec in each of the 36 st [ 72]... "its 2 inc in each of the 36 st" ??
