Let's go! Today is a day for a crochet gingerbread house!


↠ sport weight yarn in brown, cream and red colors (I used Yarn and Colors Must-Have yarn);
↠ sport weight yarn in gold color (I used Stoff and Stil Metallic yarn);
↠ crochet hook 2.00 mm;
↠ fiberfill for stuffing;
↠ scissors;
↠ yarn needle.

The size of the toy is 4 inches with indicated materials.
The size may vary if you choose another weight of yarn and crochet hook number.


The pattern is written in English, using US terminology.

ch - chain
sc - single crochet
BLO - back loops only
dec - decrease
sl st - slip stitch
rsc - reverse single crochet
dc - double crochet

You should know how to crochet: chain, slip stitch, single crochet, decrease, reverse single crochet, crochet in rows and rounds.

Crochet in brown yarn.

Ch 23.

ROW 1: start crochet in the second chain from a hook (pic.1), sc in next 22 ch (pic.2) [22]

ROW 2-19: ch 1 (pic.3), turn the detail (pic.4), sc in next 22 st (pic.5) [22]

ROW 20: ch 1, turn the detail, dec, sc in next 18 st, dec [20] (pic.6)

ROW 21: ch 1, turn the detail, dec, sc in next 16 st, dec [18]

ROW 22: ch 1, turn the detail, dec, sc in next 14 st, dec [16]

ROW 23: ch 1, turn the detail, dec, sc in next 12 st, dec [14]
Fasten off, weave in yarn ends.

Make 2 p. (pic.7)

Place both details together, matching up all sides.

Begin attaching details together with reverse sc around, using cream color yarn. (pic.8-18)

Stop in the middle of the last side, stuff the detail (pic.19). Continue crochet rsc and close with rsc in first st and tie off, weave in yarn ends. (pic.20-21)

Don’t count the stitches in these details, you need just to follow the pattern.

Ch 24 (pic.22).

ROW 1: start crochet in the second ch from a hook (pic.23), BLO sc in next 21 ch (pic.24)

ROW 2: ch 1 (pic.25), turn the detail (pic.26), BLO (pic.27) sc in next 20 st (pic.28)

ROW 3: ch 1 (pic.29), turn the detail, BLO sc in next 18 st (pic.30)

ROW 4: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 17 st

ROW 5: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 15 st

ROW 6: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 14 st

ROW 7: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 12 st

ROW 8: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 11 st

ROW 9: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 9 st

ROW 10: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 8 st

ROW 11: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 6 st

ROW 12: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 5 st

ROW 13: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 3 st

ROW 14: ch 1, turn the detail, BLO sc in next 2 st (pic.31)

ROW 15: ch 1 (pic.32), turn the detail (pic.33), work in missed stitches of every round (pic.34-35), sc in next 16 st

Fasten off, weave in yarn ends.

Make 4 p. (pic.36-37)

Work with 2 details.  Place them together with the last row to each other (pic.38).  Attaching them with sl st following the outside loops of the stitches (pic.39-47).

Fasten off, weave in yarn ends.

Repeat for the other two details.

Then attaching these two big details to each other with rsc (pic 48-49).

Crochet in cream yarn.

Ch 7 (pic.50).

ROW 1: sl st in next 6 ch [6] (pic.51)

ROW 2-6: ch 1 (pic.52), turn the detail, BLO (pic.53) sl st in next 6 st [6] (pic.54-55)

Make 2 p. (pic.56)

Fasten off, weave in yarn ends.

Crochet in red yarn.

Ch 9 (pic.57).

Start crochet in 4th ch from a hook. Dc in next 5 st (pic.58-59), 4 dc in next st (pic.60), continue on the other side of foundation chains (pic.61), dc in next 4 st, 2 dc in next st (pic.62), ch 1 (pic.63) [15]

Crochet rsc around the detail (pic.64). 

Sew the roof to the main detail.

Sew the windows. (pic.65)

Sew the door.

Embroider the windows with red yarn. (pic.66)

Embroider several french knots on the roof. (pic.67-72)
